Since the beginning of
Sudan's civil war in 1983, the people of southern Sudan
have been denied an education. As a result, southern
Sudan has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world:
only 20% of its people can read. Hope for Humanity
is committed to the development of the future leaders
of southern Sudan through providing educational opportunities.
Through our efforts to
educate the youth, we empower the people to become self
sufficient, productive members of society who can in turn
pass along what has been given to them.
